Community members joined together on Saturday, April 28, to kick colon cancer in the butt. Over 100 racers of all ages and 39 sponsors participated in the First Annual 5K Bum Run to help raise awareness and funds for critical research that will benefit millions of colorectal cancer patients, survivors and family members.
“We are happy to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal. A total of $13,000 will be donated to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and the important lifesaving work they do every day,” says Chelsea Nazal, Administrator at Northeast Digestive. “We hope that through this event, we were not only able to raise funds but also increase awareness about this devastating disease.”
Colon Cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and women in the U.S. Take the right steps to protect yourself and decrease risk factors. The good news is that it’s different than most cancers, as it’s largely preventable and beatable. Being informed is one of the easiest ways to save lives. You can also take action by being an advocate in your community.
