Hepatitis C Clinic

The Hepatitis C clinic at Northeast Digestive Health Center is operated via the team approach with your physician, the physician assistant, nursing staff, and a registered pharmacist working in concert with you to manage your treatment. Clinic visits are performed primarily on Mondays with the Physician Assistant, Ms. Marcella Nevels.

During preliminary visits to the Hepatitis C clinic you will learn about the Hepatitis C virus, the most current treatments for Hepatitis C, and your treatment options. We will also perform an in-depth screening interview to determine your suitability for treatment.  Some of the screening points include your overall medical condition, the condition of your liver, and your lifestyle (alcohol and drug use specifically). Lastly, we will complete an extensive pre-treatment work up which may include x-rays, liver biopsy, eye exam, vaccination against other types of Hepatitis, and a depression evaluation.

Once you have begun treatment, you are closely monitored with monthly office visits, periodic lab testing, and treatment adjustments according to your response to therapy. Treatment time is usually 6-12 months in duration. The Hepatitis clinic is structured to support you and to ensure you successfully complete the treatment program.
