Do you have GI “issues”? Do you want relief from GI discomfort? Do you worry about being around to see your grandchildren grow up?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions then come see the “scope” of our practice. We are Northeast Digestive Health Center, a comprehensive medical practice dedicated to providing consultative services for people with problems of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine), liver, pancreas, and biliary tree. An additional facet of our practice includes an interdisciplinary hepatitis management clinic.
Colon Cancer Screening
Colorectal screening is recommended for nearly everyone greater than 50 years of age and occasionally for younger individuals. The screening procedure may not be the same for all individuals and depends on your age, family and personal history, and other medical conditions such as rectal bleeding or blood in the stool. There is often more than one test that is appropriate for a given individual.
The endoscopy center at Northeast Digestive Health is one of three possible locations for endoscopic procedures. Our facility is accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Healthcare Centers (AAAHC). Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an organization is able to measure their quality and performance against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization as well as a thorough review by the Accreditation Association’s expert surveyors. This certification is the result of our commitment to provide a high quality, safe environment for our procedural patients.
Hepatitis C Clinic
The Hepatitis C clinic consists of a multidisciplinary team approach which includes the Primary Gastroenterologist, Physician Assistant, Hepatitis C clinical nurse coordinator and Pharmacist. The clinic convenes primarily on Mondays and is managed utilizing the most current evidence-based medicine available. During these extended, prolonged office visits usually with the physician assistant, patients are counseled and educated regarding the Hepatitis C virus, genotypes, risk factors, treatment options including the major side effects, and the goal and end points of therapy.
Your doctor may determine that a capsule endoscopy of the small bowel is necessary for further evaluation of your condition. Capsule endoscopy with the PillCam SB video Capsule will provide your doctor with pictures of the small intestine.
The physicians at Northeast Digestive Health Center are involved in research because it gives them the opportunity to contribute to furthering diagnosis and treatment options in gastroenterology related diseases. We are currently participating with Crescent Medical Research in Salisbury on their Gastroenterology related research studies. If you are interested in information on these studies and/or possible enrollment please contact Crescent Medical Research at 704-647-9913. We are also investigating opportunities with other research agencies and will update the site with any new study information as it becomes available.
